Membership

Where does “Church membership” come from?

The term “Church membership” is actually a Biblical term, “We are members of his body.” (Eph.5:30). The early church explicitly developed this idea of being a “member of Christ’s body”; a powerful component uniting the early church. It signifies the mutual acceptance and commitment of the Church body to the individual parts and the individual to the larger Church body.

We are members of his body.

Ephesians 5:30
